A Long Island man pleaded guilty to driving drunk, hitting, and killing a 24-year-old woman while she was crossing the street, authorities said.
On Monday, Aug. 28, Tyshaun Johashen, a 32-year-old Freeport man, entered his guilty plea in relation to the March 2023 crash, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.

A man who tried to pull a fast one on police in Westchester with a forged document was found guilty following a weeklong trial.
Ian Davis, 32, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty this week of presenting police with a forged document when he tried to get a Land Rover out of impound. He was found guilty of criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

A man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after he fled from a police officer in a motor vehicle, leading to a chase overnight on Long Island.
This incident occurred Saturday, Sept. 14 in Shirley, Suffolk County Police said.
A Seventh Precinct patrol officer observed Thomas Celeste, 50, of Mastic, driving a 2002 Ford van erratically on Montauk Highway, west of William Floyd Parkway, at approximately 12:15 a.m., police said.

Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks and the FBI's’ Safe Streets Task Force attempted to stop Brooklyn resident Patrick Williams, 31, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Route 9 in Cortlandt, when he committed a vehicle and traffic violation.

A Lyft driver was arrested for allegedly driving with 17 license suspensions after being stopped for possible drunk driving at the Cold Spring Harbor train station.
Leith Crossen, 57, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was arrested around 9:35 p.m., after police received a 911 call about a possible drunk driver near the Cold Spring Harbor train station, said the Suffolk County Police.
Police found Crossen stopped in his 2007 Volkswagen Jetta on Westbury Road, but he was not intoxicated. Instead, he had just dropped off a passenger and had run out of gas, police said.
