Covid-19: Miller Place Man Steals $8M From Company Seeking Surgical Masks, Feds Say
Two New York residents are accused of conning a medical supply company out of millions of dollars in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Long Island resident Jonathan Cannon, age 58, of Miller Place, and Erie County resident Julie Dotton, age 51, of Orchard Park, are both charged with wire fraud in a complaint unsealed in Central Islip federal court on Thursday, May 2.
According to prosecutors, a Canadian company serving as an official provider of personal protective equipment paid Cannon and Dotton $8.2 million for surgical masks needed due to the pandemic.

Nassau County Police announced the arrest of 38-year-old Anthony Boglino of Miller Place on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for the alleged scheme, which took place about seven months prior.

A Long Island man was arrested nearly 1,000 miles away for exploiting young girls, getting them to send him explicit videos, police said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 28, authorities with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, located in Georgia, announced the arrest of Michael Merle, age 36, of Miller Place.
Merle’s arrest followed a 14-month investigation alongside Homeland Security Investigations Sexual Exploitation Unit into his alleged manipulation of Cherokee County girls as young as 13.

Found: Woman Went Missing After Leaving Bar In Patchogue
Update:
A Long Island woman who disappeared after leaving a local bar has been found.
Heather Robinson, age 36, of Miller Place, was last seen at around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, according to Suffolk County Police.
Detectives said Robinson got into the car of an acquaintance after leaving a Patchogue bar, located on Route 112, and never made it home.
Late Saturday night, April 15, police reported that Robinson "has been located and is unharmed."

Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash On Busy Long Island Roadway
A Long Island man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on a busy area roadway.
It happened just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, in Miller Place.
Raoul Rasch, age 79, of Rocky Point, was driving a 1934 Ford vintage model eastbound on Route 25A, near Panther Path, when the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and struck a westbound 2004 Ford pickup, Suffolk County Police said.
Rasch was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
