Human Remains Found At Woodbury Construction Site
An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered on Long Island. Officers received a 911 call for possible human remains at a construction site in Woodbury located on Fairhaven Boulevard at about 4 p.m. Monday, June 10, Nassau County Police said. Upon arrival, the officers noticed skeletal remains while digging into the ground. Five families comprised of 15 people were displaced following a fire in an apartment building in Elizabeth on Friday, June 7, authorities said. At 4:15 p.m., firefighters responded to the building at 1035 Elizabeth Avenue, Ruby Contreras, a spokeswoman for the city said. A 36-year-old Newark man has been convicted of murder for a 2018 homicide in Newark after his initial conviction was reversed in 2022, authorities said. Hassan Todd was found guilty in the shooting death Elijah Roberts, which occurred on Sept. 22, 2018 on Avon Ave. in Newark, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said. A 57-year-old Fairfield County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a rock embankment. An Allentown police officer was hospitalized after suffering a medical episode while trying to arrest a wanted person, officials said. Police said only that the officer suffered some sort of medical episode while attempting to apprehend the suspect around 12:45 p.m. Monday, June 10 on the 600 block of N. 9th Street.
