Three men were arrested in Newark after police found two with stolen guns and one with ammunition, authorities said.
Trouble began when officers patrolling Rose Street saw a speeding car turning from Brenner Street onto 18th Avenue, then Winans Avenue around 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said.
The vehicle stopped in the area of Winans Avenue near Kipp Street, where Raquil Hayes, 19, of Newark, got out of the vehicle with a gun, Malave said.

Darneill Thomas, 22, was arrested in Danville, Virginia, and charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.

A fugitive wanted in a November shooting has been arrested in Atlantic City, authorities said.
Ibn Jones of Atlantic City was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault, according to Lt. Kevin Fair, a police department spokesman.
At 12:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Atlantic City Patrol Officer Aaron Jones conducted a motor vehicle stop at Indiana and Bacharach Boulevard.
The patrol officer recognized the wanted suspect, knowing that he had a warrant out for his arrest, Fair said.

William Brandon, 28, of Somerset, and Chris Gardner, 29, of New Brunswick, were charged in the killing of Raphael Edwards on July 7, in Franklin Township, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release.

An East Orange man was charged in the first Jersey City homicide of 2020, authorities said.
Eric Ballon, 33, was arrested without incident Friday at the Essex County Jail -- where he was being held on unrelated charges -- in connection with the March 6 killing of Rashawn Bethea, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Bethea, 28, was gunned down around 11:30 p.m. in front of a home on Wegman Parkway, up the street from near Audubon Park in the city's Greenville section, Suarez said.

A Newton man was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful weapon possession after slashing a Sparta man on the cheek with a knife during a fight in a Sussex County park, authorities said.
Police responded to reports of a fight at the County Park around 7:15 p.m.Monday, where Douglas Hill, 23 of Sparta, had been cut in the left cheek by Johnathan Figueroa, 24 of Newton, local police said in a release.

2 Charged With Assault By Auto, Terroristic Threats After Jefferson Bar Fight
One man hit a Jefferson bar patron in the head with a beer bottle and another threatened to kill him and a companion before hitting their car at two separate intersections, authorities said.
Geidi Munoz-Gonzales, 26, of Stockholm, wielded a knife while threatening to kill the victim and his companion after Ryan McCabe, 24,of Franklin, hit him with the bottle at Daily Planet on Feb. 16, Sgt. Joseph Kratzel said.
