Amazon Plans To Lay Off Around 10,000 Employees, Report Says
A week before the holiday shopping season officially kicks off, Amazon is set to begin laying off approximately 10,000 corporate and technology employees, The New York Times reports.
Job cuts at the online retail giant were expected to start the week of Monday, Nov. 14, and will primarily affect Amazon’s retail, devices, and human resources divisions, according to the outlet.
The largest in its history, the layoffs would impact 1 percent of the company’s global workforce and 3 percent of its corporate employees.

A Wayne couple was sentenced to federal prison Tuesday for buying $4.5 million worth of food stamps from customers at a grocery store they managed in Paterson.
Ibrahim Zughbi, 67, got 3½ years in a federal penitentiary while his wife, Miriam Zughbi, 63, also of Wayne, was sentenced to two years, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said.
Ibrahim Zughbi previously participated in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) when he was the owner of Neighborhood Supermarket, a medium-sized grocery store, Honig said.

Diana Tennant 51, Jersey Shore Food Bank Employee, Dies Of Coronavirus
A longtime Jersey Shore food bank employee died Monday of complications from the coronavirus.
Diana Tennant, 51, a mother of three from Bradley Beach worked for Fulfill — formerly known as The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties — for a dozen years.
“It is an incredibly sad day at Fulfill, as we lost a champion for the hungry, a dedicated colleague, and a dear friend,” said Kim Guadagno, Fulfill CEO and president and former lieutenant governor of New Jersey.
