Driver Flees Fiery DWI Crash In Lindenhurst, Police Say
After driving drunk, crashing his car, and fleeing the scene, a Long Island man was apprehended by police.
According to Suffolk County police, 37-year-old Anthony Lacorte was driving his GMC Sierra while intoxicated at around 11:40 p.m. when he crashed into a parked car on 21 Lido Parkway in Lindenhurst.
Though his car lost a tire in the crash, Lacorte, who is from Massapequa, continued to drive, police say.
About a mile and a half later, at the intersection of Second Avenue and South Fourth Street, the sparks from the tire rim on the pavement caught Lacorte’s car on fire.

A beloved 51-year-old grandma has died after crashing into a mailbox, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police on Friday, Oct. 14.
Wanda Batzel, of Fort Louden, was driving her 2002 GMC Sierra on Lincoln Way West in Peters Township on Oct. 7 around 10 a.m., the police explain in the release.
For an unknown reason, Batzel veered off the road and struck a mailbox and a tree, dying at the scene from injuries that she sustained in the crash, the release details.

Police Investigating Numerous Reports Of Entered, Stolen Luxury Vehicles In Darien
Darien police are reporting that two vehicles were stolen, including one from a dealership, and four vehicles were burglarized since early this month.
The first vehicle was stolen from BMW of Darien on Monday, Dec. 7, after a customer had dropped off their 2019 BMW X5 for service, leaving the keys inside. When the dealership went to retrieve the vehicle, it was missing, said Darien Police Sgt. James Palmieri.

Westchester Man Killed In Three-Vehicle Crash On Taconic Parkway
A Westchester County man was killed following a three-car crash on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill.
William Faint, 62, of Yorktown, was killed around 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, after he pulled in front of two other vehicles on the parkway, said New York State Police Spokesman AJ Hicks.
According to Hicks, an initial investigation found that Faint was traveling east on Carpenter Road, in a 2006 Ford Taurus, when he attempted to cross the Taconic State Parkway, and failed to yield the right of way to two southbound vehicles, Hicks said.
