Phelps Hospital Workers Sign Agreement, Avoid Strike
Following week-long bargaining sessions, workers at a Westchester hospital have reached an agreement, avoiding a planned one-day strike.
Caregivers at Phelps Hospital, which Northwell Health owns, reached a tentative agreement with hospital leaders on Thursday morning, May 30, according to 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
As a result, a one-day strike planned for Friday, May 31 was avoided, union officials said.
The tentative agreement includes:
Wage increases retroactive to April 2023;
No-cost family health insurance;
Secure pensions;

Two moms whose children went to a Methuen daycare have filed a lawsuit claiming emotional mistreatment and physical abuse from the faculty, Boston.com reports.
Dyanarah Fermin, of Lawrence, and Karina Rodriguez, of Lowell filed a complaint against The Children’s Center of the Faith United Methodist Church earlier this month in Essex Superior Court.
The moms claim their sons suffered emotional abuse that left them with PTSD, insomnia, night terrors, and other issues from the Lowell Street daycare, the complaint reads.

Danbury Mom Accused Of Killing 3 Kids Had Been Cited For Providing Illegal Day Care
The Connecticut mother who allegedly killed her three children before hanging herself was recently cited twice by the state for providing illegal daycare services.
The apparent triple murder-suicide in Fairfield County happened on Wednesday, July 27 in Danbury, on Whaley Street.
The children, Junior Panjon, age 12, Joselyn Panjon, age 10, and Jonael Panjon, age 5, were found by police after the department received a request for a welfare check from a distraught and crying person, said Det. Capt. Mark Williams.

Covid-19: CVS Health Adds 11 Vaccine Sites In Connecticut
With more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine being distributed to states, CVS Health has announced it was adding 11 new vaccine sites across Connecticut.
Beginning on Sunday, March 14, 11 new CVS Pharmacy locations across Connecticut will join 15 others already doing so in the state, with booking for appointments becoming available as of Saturday, March 13.
