The Picture House and Pelham Memorial High School will present the film, followed by a question and answer discussion with Elisabeth Bohart, an executive producer on the film.
"Watchers of the Sky" interweaves four stories of remarkable courage, compassion, and determination, while setting out to uncover the forgotten life of Raphael Lemkin – the man who created the word “genocide,” and believed the law could protect the world from mass atrocities.
Inspired by Samantha Power’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "A Problem From Hell," "Watchers of the Sky" takes the viewer on a provocative journey from Nuremberg to The Hague, from Bosnia to Darfur, from criminality to justice, and from apathy to action.
The film is being shown as the culminating event of Pelham Memorial High School’s Human Rights Day, which is being organized by faculty member Meghan Rice.
There will be students' presentations on display in the lobby before and after the film.
Tickets are free for students, $12/general admission, $6/members, $10/seniors and are available at www.thepicturehouse.org or at the box office.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with screening at 7 p.m. at The Picture House, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham.
