Video, Blood Evidence Helps Nab Residential Burglary Suspect In Philipstown: Police
A 23-year-old man was apprehended in connection with a residential burglary in the Hudson Valley thanks to DNA evidence, authorities announced.
New Jersey resident Steven Moye of Haledon, age 23, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 14 in connection to a residential burglary in the Putnam County town of Philipstown, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday, Dec. 21.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Moye's arrest stemmed from an incident on Thursday, Aug. 3 around midnight, when deputies responded to a residence on Route 9D for a reported burglary.

37-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train In New Haven
A 37-year-old man was struck and killed by a train in New Haven.
The man was found dead around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, along the tracks behind the New Haven Fire Department's training academy on Ella T. Grasso Blvd., said Aaron Donovan, a spokesman for the MTA.
An investigation determined that the man -- identified as Hispanic -- was struck at approximately 6:15 p.m. by Amtrak Train No. 140, which is the 12:25 p.m. departure from Washington, D.C., scheduled to arrive at Springfield, Massachusetts, at 8:03 p.m., Donovan said.

Aquebogue Man Charged, Weapons Recovered After Investigation Into Threats To Jewish Community
A Long Island man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into threats to the Jewish community in New York City.
Christopher Brown, age 21, of Aquebogue, was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 19, and charged with making a terroristic threat, aggravated harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon, the New York City Police Department reported.
Police also reported the arrest of 22-year-old Matthew Mahrer, of New York City, who was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

ID Released For Person Struck, Killed By Train In Scotchtown
Officials with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have released the identity of a man who was killed after being struck by a train in the Hudson Valley.
Paul Engel, age 67, of Manhattan, was killed in Orange County around 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17 in Scotchtown, a hamlet of the town of Wallkill.

According to the MTA, Engel was struck by a New Jersey Transit Authority train and confirmed dead at the scene.

DNA from a cigarette has led to the arrest of a Fairfield County man for allegedly robbing and attempting to sexually assault a woman at an area train station.
Ivan Burgos, age 36, of Bridgeport, was arrested Saturday, Feb. 5, for the incident which took place on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.
According to MTA police, the New York woman had taken a train to visit friends in Bridgeport. While waiting for a return train later that night at the station, she went outside to have a cigarette.

Missing Person Found Dead In Wooded Area In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County man who had been missing for several days was found dead in a wooded area.
Shin Maeno, age 28, of Stamford, was found around 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 23, was found dead in a wooded area of Redding by members of the State Police Search and Rescue Unit, said Captain Diedrich Hohn, of the Stamford Police.
Maeno, who was reported missing on Thursday, Nov 18, was last seen leaving a friend’s apartment, in Stamford, at around noon on Wednesday, Nov. 17, police said.
