What began as a disabled vehicle call on a highway in the region ended with two people in handcuffs, one accused of drugged driving and the other of animal abuse.
Troopers in Saratoga County responded to I-87 in Wilton shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, May 12, for a broken-down car.
New York State Police said the driver, 34-year-old Jennifer Hagadorn, of Gansevoort, and a passenger, 42-year-old Guy Chadwick, of Queensbury, got into an argument when Hagadorn walked away from the vehicle.

Dog's No Demon: Animal Abuser Arrested In Stafford, Sheriff Says
A domestic dispute over animal abuse ultimately led to the arrest of a 30-year-old man in Stafford County for being cruel to his dog, the sheriff's office announced.
In late December, deputies were called to a Knollwood Court residence to investigate a report of a disturbance involving Rickey Carr, who was brandishing a handgun.
According to a spokesperson from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, Carr had allegedly been beating his pit bull, named Demon, with a stick, and when he was confronted by others in the home, Carr took out the gun.

West Haverstraw Man Caught On Camera Abusing Friend's Dog At Mall
A Rockland County man who was dog-sitting for a friend was caught on video punching, kicking, and otherwise abusing the baby pit bull at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities said.
Joseph Caraccia, 39, of West Haverstraw, was caught thanks to a good Samaritan who called police to the parking lot of the mall on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Paramus Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said.
The caller "observed the abuser punching, kicking, and throwing the dog into a vehicle," Guidetti said.
It was later discovered that the dog -- named Stormy -- is only 8 months old, according to Guidetti.

A Berks County woman who claimed that she found an injured dog and her dead puppies along the side of the road was actually the animal's owner, according to a release from state troopers.

A wandering dog, covered in feces, acted as a tip for police to arrest a woman and charge her with animal abuse, officials say.
In Fairfield County, Glorianne Marie Lagnese, of the town of Fairfield, was arrested on Friday, May 12 after an investigation revealed that dozens of pets were living in uninhabitable conditions, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
The investigation began the week of Tuesday, April 17 when a concerned citizen saw a dog, covered in urine and feces, wandering in the Steep Hill Road area of Fairfield, as reported by Daily Voice.

NJ Horse Shot To Death In Shippensburg, State Police Say
A horse that belongs to a nonprofit organization in New Jersey was found shot to death in Pennsylvania, according to a release by the Pennsylvania State Police on Monday, May 1, 2023.
The horse belonged to Standardbred Retirement Foundation located in Cream Ridge, NJ. It was being housed on McClays Mill Road in Southampton Township near Shippensburg, according to state police.
